Call for Abstracts
(Deadline July 14, 2015)
Dear NPSA Members, Colleagues and Surgical Residents:
The 102nd Annual Meeting of the North Pacific Surgical Association will be held in Portland, OR. on November 13-14, 2015, and hosted by the Portland Caucus under this year’s president, Dr. John Vetto. Members please forward this message to your colleagues and surgical residents.
You are invited to submit an abstract for presentation at the meeting. Abstract submission deadline is extended to July 14, 2015. All abstracts (250 words maximum) must be submitted electronically on the Association’s website at www.nopacsurg.org. The online submissions link is active and the website will have guidelines for writing abstracts, the discussant’s role, and a listing of NPSA member mentors who have volunteered to help develop your abstract and paper.
Abstracts accepted for paper presentation at the meeting will be submitted for publication in The American Journal of Surgery. Your designated contact (Author/Correspondent) will be notified by early August.
Video submissions – this can be a demonstration of a novel technique or of a unique and/or interesting case. Videos should be edited to be a 5-minute length. A short descriptive abstract must accompany the submission. Please submit in either .wav or .mov format.
Active members please recall, the bylaws of the North Pacific Surgical Association require submission of an abstract, presentation of a paper, or participation as a primary paper discussant every 4 years as a condition for membership. Meeting attendance is required every 3 years. New members are strongly encouraged to submit abstracts and present at their first meeting. Non-members may submit an abstract of their own or one that is co-authored with a NPSA member.
The Program Committee is also soliciting members and interested participants to act as primary paper discussants. If you want to participate or are due to be a discussant, please signify this on the abstract form and your area of expertise, or email NPSA Coordinator, Chris Wong, at nopacsurg@aol.com.
As always, we will have a Resident Paper Competition. Prizes will be awarded to the two best podium presentations by surgical residents in clinical and basic sciences. The Program Committee will also waive registration for the top 4 resident abstracts received.
The hallmark of this annual meeting is it’s reliance on the quality and variety of the presentations. Please submit your abstracts by June 30th and plan to join your fellow Northwest surgeons for an excellent and exciting meeting in Portland, Oregon.
Sincerely,
Kenneth Gow, M.D.
Secretary-Treasurer
